The rich curriculum at Southbrook Academy is punctuated by events that bring together classrooms, age groups and families. Through the cooperative planning of the Specialists and Classroom teachers, the students participate in many events that integrate academics, culture and celebration.

Some of these events include:

• One Book One School
  The One Book One School Program promotes literacy. Every year a committee of teachers select a chapter book of merit that appeals to children in grades K-6. Each child receives a copy of the book to share at home with their family. School and home activities are planned ending with a Family Fun Night and Book Fair.

• Hundredth Day
  Reaching the One Hundredth day of school is a cause for celebration. Every year school wide activities are planned. The children rotate through classrooms and apply their math skills in a fun and purposeful way. Children's creativity shines through as they prepare and bring in displays of a hundred items.

• Science Fair
  Southbrook Academy puts on a very unique Science Fair. Grades K-6 participate. Projects are displayed in the classrooms and families are invited one evening to view our budding scientist's work.

• Jump Rope for Heart
  Each year Southbrook students, teachers and family volunteers set aside a half day of school for this active fundraiser. Jump rope activities are organized throughout the school. Southbrook Academy has been awarded 1st place fundraiser five times as a result of our students enthusiastic participation and the generosity of our families.

• Talent Show
  Southbrook students have many talents which stem from personality, special interests and abilities, and formal training. Each Spring all the children in grades 3-6 are invited to entertain family and friends. Selections have ranged from comedy skits and card tricks to accomplished dance and instrumental performances. It is an evening of pride and pleasure for everyone involved!

• Spring Concert
  Southbrook's Spring Concert is the grand concert of all concerts! This fabulous finale concludes our year of wonderful music classes. Students show off their vocal talents to a packed auditorium of friends and families.

• Field Day
  A productive year of physical education is celebrated at Field Day. Under the direction of the Physical Education teacher, many events are enjoyed by all the children. It is an active day of fun, exercise and awards for all.
