At Southbrook Academy, students are immersed in a challenging curriculum and held to high expectations. With supportive teachers and a variety of hands-on learning experiences, students rise to meet and often exceed those expectations. Because of our small class sizes and low teacher to student ratio, our focus is on individualized attention to each child's strengths and weaknesses. In a typical day at Southbrook Academy, you will see children creating a lunar eclipse, writing their own fairy tales, or building a cave, complete with original cave paintings! It is through these and countless other experiences that students at Southbrook Academy build a solid knowledge base and love of learning.

Curriculum at a Glance...

• Guided by the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks without the use of the MCAS

• 4th, 5th, and 6th graders typically score in the 90th percentile of the TerraNova standardized test

• All grades use the University of Chicago Everyday Mathematics program

• Annual school-wide curriculum theme (i.e. The Ocean, The Earth, etc.) which guides individual classroom study as well as school-wide activities

• Monthly mixed-grade activities where students work with each other toward a common goal

• All students attend the five specials of Technology, Spanish, Physical Education, Art, and Music, giving them an opportunity to discover their own talents!
